Privacy Policy

We built EstudyLog to help you track study time - not to collect or sell your personal habits. This policy covers exactly what we gather, why we need it, and how you stay in control.

Who we are & how to reach us

EstudyLog (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates a study-tracking app designed for students and lifelong learners. You can email privacy@estudylog.com with any privacy question, including requests to access, export, or delete data.

Data we collect

Account details (optional)

  • Email address when you choose to create an account or sign in with Apple.
  • Authentication tokens (handled by Firebase Authentication; we don’t store your password).

Study activity (you add this)

  • Courses, sessions, durations, notes, productivity ratings, streaks, and scheduled plans.
  • Attachment metadata if you upload files (file name, size, type).

Diagnostics

  • Device type, operating system version, and anonymous crash reports.
  • Basic interaction events to understand performance and reliability.

How we use the data

  • Sync your sessions securely across devices and keep your streaks accurate.
  • Power analytics such as weekly charts and study time summaries.
  • Send reminders and notifications you opt into (you can disable them anytime).
  • Resolve bugs, improve reliability, and run support diagnostics.
  • Spacing prompts: We process course outlines, ratings, and session history to calculate priority scores used for your next-topic suggestions. These calculations run inside our infrastructure only.

Legal bases for processing

  • Contractual necessity: Delivering the core features you request.
  • Legitimate interests: Maintaining, securing, and improving the service.
  • Consent: Optional features like marketing updates or proactive spacing reminders.

Who we share data with

We never sell personal information. Limited data is shared only with:

  • Infrastructure providers including Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions) under robust data-processing agreements.
  • Analytics partners for aggregated usage insights that help us improve onboarding and performance.
  • Legal authorities if required to comply with law or protect safety.

International transfers

Data may be processed in the United States. If you live outside the U.S., your information is transferred under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards required by your region.

Retention

We keep your study data while your account is active so you always have a full history. Delete your account (or email us) and we remove or anonymize personal data within 30 days unless law requires otherwise.

Your rights

  • Access the data we store about you.
  • Correct inaccurate account details.
  • Export your study history as CSV.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent for optional emails or features.
  • Object to specific processing activities.

To exercise any right, use the in-app settings or email privacy@estudylog.com. We may verify identity before completing the request.

Children’s privacy

EstudyLog is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that a child has submitted personal data, we delete it promptly. Parents or guardians can reach us via privacy@estudylog.com.

Security practices

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest where supported.
  • Role-based access controls for team members.
  • Regular audits of authentication, logging, and backup systems.

While no method is perfectly secure, we review and improve our safeguards continuously.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when practices or regulations change. Material updates appear in the app and on this page, and we adjust the “Last updated” date above.
